About Us and This Blog

I'm Andrew Kwecka, Senior Software Engineer on DOORS 9 and DOORS Web Access at Persistent Systems.

The aim of this blog is to share our investigations into world of Internet of Things and where does DOORS 9 fit into this great world. Initially I was looking at IBM Watson IoT Platform (or IBM IoT Foundation as it was called initially) but now I would like to consider more solutions, like Aepona or AWS IoT Platform or even Google IoT Solutions.

There will be some new exciting posts published on this blog written by my fellow IBMers and friends. Let me introduce them (in order of appearance):

"Hi! I'm Kenny Liu, I am a Software Engineer and work on IBM DOORS Web Access and IBM DOORS NG. I'm interested in UI development (JavaScript, CSS, HTML) and all things IoT.

About this blog

If you are interested in IBM Rational DOORS 9 and how to extend with DXL Services or Node.JS you are in correct place.

Please remember the postings on this site are my own and don’t necessarily represent IBM’s positions, strategies or opinions.

What are my goals for this blog?

In this blog I will aim to show you some techniques how you could extend your Rational DOORS 9 with Node.JS applications. Before we get into deep waters of security compliance, firewalls and accessing your private networks from Bluemix, I will show you some examples what can be done behind firewall, hosted on your local servers.

I will post every couple weeks and with small steps I will present to you some key concepts how you can get data from DOORS 9 and what you can do with it.

And what are not my goals

I'm not going to show here ready products or solutions.
I won't show you how to create user databases or login strategies for Node.JS applications. Those topics are widely described elsewhere, for example Passport library.

I'm here to give you some ideas how you can connect with DOORS Database, use DOORS OSLC DXL Services, play with data you have, analyze it, have a look at traceability and later create some reports.
